Shimuwini Bushveld Restcamp – Kruger Park
Easy access to good Elephant and Buffalo country. Lovely over the Letaba River. Isolated hills in the west are rich in ancient relics. Shimuwini is suitable for all year round visits. Electrical power provided by solar energy. There are 15 family cottages spread out in a long, well-spaced line along the The Shimuwini Dam at this The Kruger Park, South Africa restycamp. a few of the things available in these cottages are cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, a refrigerator, sink & a gas stove.
All cottage has its own barbecue facilities for visitors wanting to cook outdoors at this Kruger National camp. The refrigerators do have freezer compartments, but a communal freezer is available at the reception office at Shimuwini.
he accommodation units have solar panels for lights and fans only, and there are no plugs in the units. These lodging cottages are serviced with fresh bedding, towels & soap are provided. There is sufficient open parking available at this Kruger Park campsite.

Campsite are in the Letaba & Mopani campsites.The Shimuwini Campsite has a Bird Hide that offers guests the chance to get a nearer look at the bird life on the Shimuwini Dam. April through to August is a good time for big game viewing from the hide, which looks over to the far bank.

Game drives permit you to take part in the activities of Kruger's secretive creatures, in the company of professional guides and trackers.
Bush guided walks, in the company of trained field guides with backup rifles, take groups of up to eight persons out into the bush for a few hours. Track Rhino, Elephant and Lion on foot and learn and observe fascinating facts about the African bush.
At The Shimuwini Restcamp you can be convinced you will see various diverse animals coming down to drink along the river bank, in view of Shimuwini Camp.
The indigenous ever present Mopane Tree in the east become more varied with bigger trees such as
Leadwood, Apple Leaf, Jackalberry & Nyala trees, towards the west.
There are twenty kilometres (12 miles) of road for the private use of residents to this Kruger National Park camp.The Shimuwini Dam, does not dry up during the dry season.
Entrance gates & camp gates are closed at night, so guests must ensure that they arrive at the entrance gate in good time to reach this Kruger
campsite before closing time, as no permits will be issued for late arrivals.
Shimuwini is a Shangaan word meaning 'Place of the Baobab' so named because Letaba River is lined with these big trees. The Shimuwini Campsite is found in the Northern Region, the area ranging southward from the Tropic of Capricorn to the Olifants River.
The sparse, isolated hills in the west are rich in pre-historic artefacts, while the Lebombo Mountains in the east form the natural border betweenKruger National Park & Mozambique.

Solar panels for lights and fans only (there are no plugs in the units) With stunning views over the water, these Family & Guest cottages give visitors an excellent chance to glimpse game & waterbirds on the far bank. Crocodiles, as well as Hippopotamus reside within the dam. Shimuwini Campsite can accommodate up to 71 visitors at its Kruger Park accommodation.
Shimuwini Camp's nine two-bedded family cottages can sleep 5 and has ceiling fans & an en-suite bathroom.
Five 2-bedroom Kruger Park accommodation guest cottages, each with 2 single-bedded bedrooms, are cooled by ceiling fans. All vaction cottage comes with a kitchen-diningroom situated on an open balcony.
There is also one three-bedroom cottage. All rooms has 2 single beds, a ceiling fan, an en suite bathroom with a bath & a toilet. There is also an outside shower for a personal shower under the stars.
The living room has 2 lounge chairs, & a ceiling fan while the inside kitchen boasts an oven and stove.
The diningroom is outside on a big, partly enclosed veranda|porch|balcony|terrace} and features a sink, refrigerator, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery for self-catering guests.
Guests may occupy their Kruger lodging from 12pm & are requested to vacate before 9 o’clock on the day of departure.
