The Mala Mala was the 1st privately owned game reserve in S.A with eco-tourism as an option to hunting. The Mala Mala Main Safari camp, found in wonderful sourrounds and amid shelterd trees and manicured lawns on the banks of the Sand River, is still 1 of SA’s most notorious and best loved safari destinations. The Mala Mala Mala Mala is a common, restful safari camp with accepted safari-style decoration including original bronzes, works of art and animal trophies mounted on the walls. The spacious buffalo lounge living room leads onto an expansive wooden deck, where you can spend a relaxing afternoon watching giraffe, elephant and buffalo come to the river bank to drink.
The location is known for its great wildlife viewing. Dinner, where you can enjoy red meat specialties and haute bush cooking, is served in the grand old African safari manner in the camp's reed enclosed boma. The accommodation at Mala Mala Main Safari Restcamp is of the highest standard - you don't have to 'battle it out' to enjoy a safari here. In keeping with the African theme, the large, thatched rondavels (round bungalows) are furnished in rattan, with African-style artwork and prints. Each bungalow is air-conditioned and has tall ceilings; massive, cozy beds and 'his' and 'hers' bathrooms. Glass sliding doors opening onto a private porch overlooking the surrounding bush, so you can enjoy game viewing from the ease of your own bedroom. The safari camp is 1 of the small number of safari destinations which is able to present a fully equipped disabled bedroom. There is one family rondavel.
