The Mala Mala was the first privately owned game reserve in S.A with eco-tourism as an alternative to hunting. The Mala Mala Main Campsite, found in beautiful surroundings and amoung shelterd trees and manicured lawns on the banks of the Sand River, is still 1 of S.A’s most well known and best loved safari destinations. The Mala Mala Mala Mala is a standard, restful safari camp with accepted safari-style decoration including original bronzes, works of art and animal trophies mounted on the walls. The large buffalo sitting room leads onto an open wooden deck, where you can use up a relaxing afternoon seeing giraffe, elephant and buffalo come to the river to drink.

The location is known for its great animal viewing. It is usual for visitors to view all of the 'Big Five', the most wanted and treacherous} of the world's large wildlife; as well as cheetah, wild dog and a mind-blowing range of birdlife. In addition to game drives, you can go on guided walks, to learn more about the vegetation of lesser animals of the bush. Mala Mala Main Safari Campsite is situated in the Mala Mala Private Game Reserve in the north-eastern part of SA in the province of Mpumalanga, sharing a border of over Nineteen Km with the Kruger National Park. Facilities

Tasty breakfasts and lunches are served in the air-conditioned sitting room allowing you to get away from the high tempreture of the day. Supper, where you can enjoy white meat specialties and haute bush cooking, is served in the wonderful old African safari manner in the safari restcamps reed enclosed boma. Get pleasure from your meal as you meet other visitors around a log fire, under the starry sky. Accommodation

The accommodation at Mala Mala Main Restcamp is of the highest standard - you don't have to 'battle it out' to enjoy a safari here. In keeping with the African theme, the large, thatched rondavels (round bungalows) are furnished in rattan, with African-style artwork and prints. Each bungalow is air-conditioned and has high ceilings; massive, comfortable beds and 'his' and 'hers' bathrooms. Glass sliding doors opening onto a personal porch overlooking the surrounding bush, so you can enjoy wildlife viewing from the comfort of your own suite. The campsite is 1 of the few safari destinations which is able to offer a fully equipped disabled suite. There is 1 family rondavel.
