The Letaba Camp at Kruger Park

Probably one of the most beautiful camps. The camp is situated in the center section of KNP, close to the great Letaba River in the heart of African elephant region.

Accommodation at Letaba varys from tents to rondawel huts catering 2-4 persons per selected unit.

The Letaba canp is well known for its frequent elephant viewings and has an exhibition about the elephant life cycle.

The Camp facilities maintain a: cafeteria, fence perimeter, laundry & restaurant.

The camp is strategically located within the central area, situated on the southern bank of the Letaba River only 50 km from the Phalaborwa entrance.

It is also the junction of the three major roadways in the Kruger Park. The campsite and caravan park have stunning lawns and massive African trees, giving it character.

The location is well known for its large apple-leaf, umbrella thorn and mopane trees. Rare animals species, such as eland, Sharpe’s grysbok and roan may be seen, & common general sights include elephant, buffalo, zebra, waterbuck, sable, nyala, tsessebe and cheetah.

The dirt road to Olifants Restcamp along the Great Letaba River provides a picturesque drive on which plentiful wildlife is often to be sighted.

Two other look out areas are in easy distance and worth visiting, namely the Engelhard dam to the east and the Mingerhout dam to the northwest.

An AA emergency help and workshop, information centre with the elephant as the central theme, movie shows on conservation and wildlife certain evenings, first-aid centre, petrol and diesel, eatery, self-service and take-aways at the cafeteria, laundromat, shops, braai places.

Accommodation

Campsites
• 60 x tent or caravan sites campsite, with power point. Communal Publlic ablutions and cooking facilities. (24-hour boiling water, electric hotplates and washing up facilities) Maximum of 6 persons per site.

Huts
• 5 x rustic 3-bed units with communa Publicl ablution facilities. There are no cooking utensils, crockery or cutlery, but a communal Public kitchen (located at the old picnic spot) with sink and electric stoves is available. Also equipped with fridge, fan and air conditioner. Moreover in addition you have a choice option of perimeter or river view units. Please confirm when booking.

Safari Tents
• 10 x 2-bed and 10 x 4-bed permanent furnished canvas tents on stilts, including a fridge, standing fan inside tent and small veranda porch. Communal public ablutions and communal public kitchens available.

Bungalows
• 86 x round–walled, single–room single room African style units with thatched roofs, 2 or 3 Two or Three beds per unit, equipped with en–suite en suite ablutions (most with showers, but some several with baths). All every units have air–conditioning, some have fans. Kitchenettes vary: some have hotplates and sinks; some have only sinks, while some have neither none. Cutlery and crockery can be provided and hired rented from reception. More over you have a choice of with or without perimeter or riverside view. Please confirm when booking.

Guest Cottages
• 10 x 6-bed units (2 single beds in each bedroom), equipped with two bathrooms (one en-suite), air-conditioning (only in the bedrooms), lounge/dining area (with ceiling fan), large big veranda and outside braai barbeque. The open plan kitchen has a four plate gas stove with oven, fridge/freezer combination, sink, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery and 6-seater dining room/lounge.

Guest Houses
• These are large big luxury units in prime main positions inside the camp campsite, with riverside view. There are well-equipped kitchens (with microwave ovens) and multiple many bedrooms and bathrooms. Limited channel DSTV televisions are provided.

Melville: Sleeps 9, with 3 bedrooms (2 single beds in each room) and an additional additional single bed on the enclosed veranda porch. Fish Eagle: Sleeps 8 sleeps eight, with 4 four bedrooms (2 two single beds in each every room) and has an exclusive private bird hide.
